Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gets its first teaser trailer

Two weeks after its initial announcement, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has released its first teaser. According to the trailer, CS: GO will include revamped visuals, new and updated maps, new weapons and game modes, a ranked matchmaking system and cross-platform gameplay.

IGN already had a chance to play CS: GO and put up a video on YouTube, which you can view here. The video features a shootout under one of Counter-Strike’s most memorable locales, the underpass in de_dust. It would appear that Valve has remade the level, adding a few new rooms and throwing in a staircase here and there, but the overall layout of the map remains the same. The graphic style has changed drastically from CS: Source, but what irks me is that the game is still running on the 7 year-old Source engine.

Nevertheless, I’m looking to forward to taking the console players to town with the mouse and keyboard come next year. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is scheduled for an early 2012 release, and it will be playable at PAX Prime 2011 (this weekend!), so keep an eye for more footage!
